Cast selected for production of 'Almost, Maine'
Romantic comedy opens April 10 for three-day run
In keeping with the frigid weather conditions of western Pennsylvania, the romantic comedy, "Almost, Maine” is the spring stage production of the Drama Club at Penn State New Kensington. Director Bill Mitas, instructor in theatre arts, has selected a student cast for the three performances that run April 10-12 in the Forum Theatre.
The play, written by John Cariani, is a series of vignettes about love – falling in, falling out, unrequited – in the mythical town of Almost, Maine. With a fantastic view of the Aurora Borealis, the town is the northernmost place in the United States. The eight scenes are set on a cold night in the middle of winter, which should be a familiar setting for campus students.
The cast, currently in rehearsal, features Shannon McDonald of Saltsburg; Nick DeRiso of Murrysville; Trevor Arnett of Verona; Dawn Fink of Apollo; Jonathan Vertosick of Tarentum; James Farley of Vandergrift; Klase Danko of New Kensington; Meghan Marsh of Springdale; and Matt Mlynarski of Lower Burrell.
In addition to Mitas, the crew includes stage manager Lauren Smith of Ford City, lighting director Patrick Lang of Pittsburgh, and sound director Sarah Mihelic.
