Commencement held May 5 at Athletic Center
On May 5, 2012, Chancellor Kevin Snider conferred degrees to 77 graduates at the 53rd spring commencement exercises at Penn State New Kensington.
“We do this every year and every year I’m amazed at the accomplishments of these students. This year is no exception,” Snider said. “It’s just a time to celebrate a lot of great accomplishments.”
Arlene Hall, director of academic affairs at Penn State New Kensington, delivered the commencement address, “Envisioning Your Future.” Hannah McBean, an organizational leadership student, performed the national anthem. Tansey Ochs, a graduating Administration of Justice student addressed the assembly as did Kerry A. Kelly, Jr., president of the Alle-Kiski Society of the Penn State Alumni Association.
The class of 2012 is the 53rd graduating class from Penn State New Kensington. The campus opened in New Kensington in 1953, offering electrical and mechanical engineering associate degree programs. Nearly 900 students now matriculate on the Upper Burrell campus, which the school moved to in the mid-sixties. Sixteen associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs are offered.
