To remain in the forefront of learning, Penn State New Kensington must constantly refresh and renew its academic programs and move into new disciplines as opportunities arise. Program support serves as “venture capital” for our students and is used in by all academic units. Campus faculty and staff are turning to alumni, friends, and the corporate community for contributions that support specific programs initiatives that benefit both the campus and the community.
Scholarships and awards provide students access to higher education. We have specific scholarship programs — general, renaissance, and trustee matching — to help support campus students.
Athletics Fund: Programs/Sponsorships/Equipment/Championships
This fund supports the intercollegiate and intramural athletic programs at the campus. It provides equipment and improves facilities which allow more students to participate in athletics and healthy living activities and to develop leadership skills.
New Kensington Honors Program Fund
We are dedicated to providing academically-talented students with learning experiences that challenges them to reach their full potential. An important part of the Honors program is national and international travel that provides opportunities to tour businesses in the United States and to study in foreign countries.
Chancellor's Excellence Fund
The fund sustains a tradition of quality and enriches the student experience at the campus. The chancellor has identified projects in the humanities field, such as theatre, music and art, as a priority.
Faculty Speakers Series
"Insight Forum" is a biannual discussion and lecture series. Supported and funded by the campus faculty and local businesses and foundations, the four-part program provides stimulating intellectual entertainment in an arena that allows for the exchange of ideas, opinions, and perspectives. The goals of the series are to strengthen relationships between the campus and the community as well as to enrich the local community.
Kids in College
The Kids in College summer camps program and the Pennsylvania STEM Initiative combine creative thinking with hands-on activities. Designed for students in grades one to nine, the week-long camps feature a variety of topics including, science, foreign customs, creative writing, music, reading and babysitting, as well as cheerleading, basketball and wrestling. Participants can learn about the world or develop new skills while having fun.
New Kensington Technology Innovation Fund
The innovation fund supports and enhances the campus' ability to keep abreast of technological advances in equipment, technology and training.
