Engineering Programs

Penn State is known for its high quality Engineering programs, and for producing high quality engineers.

Students wanting to complete their engineering degree here at Penn State New Kensington can earn a bachelor's degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology.  EMET students benefit from our small class sizes, experienced faculty, and the G.R.E.A.T. Program -- an internship placement program unique to our campus.  Our suburban Pittsburgh location provides resources and opportunities for students preparing to enter the workforce.

Students seeking engineering degrees other than EMET commonly participate in the 2+2 Plan.  This means they spend their first 2 years here at New Kensington and finish their programs at another Penn State campus.  The 2+2 Plan is very popular; in fact, 60% of students earn a Penn State degree this way.

The quality of the Penn State Engineering program is frequently acknowledged by national rankings.  For example, the College of Engineering at University Park was ranked 19th by the U.S. News & World Report among the "Best in Undergraduate Engineering" programs for institutions whose highest degree is a doctorate (News Story).  Numerous individual engineering programs have also appeared in the top 50.
