Overview

Psychology student Joshua Gump

Josh Gump, a sophomore psychology major at Penn State New Kensington, recently presented findings of a research study exploring right-wing authoritarianism, religious fundamentalism, and social dominance at the Annual Meeting of the Eastern Psychological Association.  Co-authored with Drs. Harnish and Bridges, results revealed that those who scored high in right-wing authoritarianism (obedience to authority) and religious fundamentalism (belief in an inerrant truth about God) also scored high in social dominance (the motivation to keep minority groups from rising within a social hierarchy).

Penn State New Kensington offers both a bachelor of arts and a bachelor of science in psychology.
